It consistently amazes me how Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment butchers Hong Kong films without showing any respect for the films or remorse for their doing. That, of course, is not the case, and only a cheap tactic to mislead buyers. While in anamorphic widescreen, the transfer has visible blemishes and speckles throughout, and occasionally also shows signs of edge-enhancement.
Look, I get it. I know opium was a major problem in China and there were a lot of efforts to correct that. All in all, a fantastic time was had by all, and we hope that one drag queen lives a long, glorious, happy life.
Set in 19th-Century ChinaFist of the Red Dragon is set in a time during which the opium trade is bringing crime and violence to the country. Corruption is rampant, as many of those engaged in opium smuggling are both royalty and high officials. The action scenes are always entertaining.

Fist of the Red Dragon. I assume the title was created by combining the five most common words used on Chinese and Hong Kong cinema. Of course, the original title, Heroes Among Heroes is a lot more fitting but I assume Fist of the Red Dragon was deemed more martial arts sounding for U.
The film shows opium smugglers in the Qing DynastyChinawith Officer Lin Zexu and Chinese martial arts master and folk hero of Cantonese ethnicity, Wong Fei-hung fighting against them. Close to the end of the Qing Dynastyopium is being smuggled to China. Meanwhile, So Chanalso known as Beggar So Donnie Yena man from a rich family, is famous for stealing food for his poor foster father Kwan Hoi-san and friends.
